First race of my 2014 season came around fast, it was one of Carl Davidson’s NDH events, the Hamsterley Trail Bike TT. I had raced it last year and thought it would be a great winter training race for me and I also like to support my local race series. Carl always puts on a great event and he has his own Enduro series running later year, starting at the end of  March so get yourself an entry before they fill up!

The event on Sunday was two timed runs on the Transmission stage which is a favourite of mine , berms, jumps and fast , but Carl did put a cheeky uphill in just before the finish which did catch a lot of riders out. It was a tough day, I did a few practice runs in the morning,  just to get warmed up. I had planned to put a fast first run in so I could see where I was sitting and how my fitness was holding up.

I was quite excited to do my first race of the year, I pushed hard all the way and came I’m with a 5mins 31 secs which put me in 1st and inside the top 15 overall with the men. Run 2 I wanted to do the same again and put a consistent time in, I pushed really hard at the top and then my legs blew so I lost over 10 seconds which I was disappointed with but I know I have the pace. I just need to keep training for another 2 months before the big races start.

I took 1st spot in the ladies with Sarah Newman in 2nd and Carrie Poole in 3rd, Angela Coates took 4th and I ended up 15th overall in the mens  which I was pleased with.  I am off to Portugal next week for 10 days of road riding with my good friend Tracy Moseley aka “The Machine”.

When I get back from Portugal my new bike will be ready to pick up from Scott UK , big thanks to them for supporting me again this season.

See you all on the trails soon
