PMBA Enduro Round 2 – Grizedale

With only one week to the 2nd round of the Gravity Enduro Series and two weeks until the Enduro World Series, I decided to ride the PMBA enduro at Grizedale to squeeze in some last minute training.

The sun was shining from early in the morning until the end of racing, making for dry and even dusty trails in places.

The stages were predicted to be a mix of fast, hard packed Lake District rock and the glorious heat was drying everything out as the day went on. I decided to opt for a tyre change to begin practice. Putting a Schwalbe Hans Dampf up front and a Rock Razor on the back proved to be a great combination, one I have used on my Scott earlier in the year – fast rolling in the hard pack with great grip in the loose natural sections.

Stages 1 and 2 were a test of pedalling speed and fitness with flat out sections of polished rock to catch everyone out, some nasty trail injuries were collected by others on these stages!

Stage 3 was my personal favorite of the day, a mixture of steep natural roots and rocks in the trees opening up into a section of man made features like hip jumps and step ups. The crowd really got into this section, I could hear people shouting my name as I rode down – It’s a real buzz to hear people cheering you on and supporting you at races.

A good end to the day for myself and my Scott Pioneer Syncros Team mate Lee Kermode taking the win in our categories.

With a few more miles in my legs it’s onto Scotland next weekend.

See you there!
